Lighting & Media

lightingWelcome to the convergence of theatrical lighting design, architectural lighting design, and digital media. Our unique program centers on the overlap of these related worlds to equip designers like nowhere else. Out of this interdisciplinary nebula come students who master a wide array of professions and events. The media team for Spiderman: Turn off the Dark? Our alums. The visual art director for Faith Hill's SuperBowl opening? Our alum. And they are everywhere else, too- from the circus to tradeshows, the Olympics to television, to architecture firms from New York to San Francisco, from Trinidad to China.

The convergence faculty includes Lara Wilder, Lisa Kidd, and Michael Williams in the Department of Theatre and affiliated faculty from Dance, Music, and New Media. Recent updates include new courses, new automated fixtures, and an entirely new LED and Plasma lighting system for the Armory Theatre- an energy efficient and high-technology upgrade.

Our incredible facilities include four theatres, a grand music hall, a digital television studio, a model light lab, and a computer lab.
