Introduction to the art of theatre for non-majors, including acting, design, directing, dramaturgy, and playwriting, together with a survey of theatrical history from the "mainstream" to the "margins." This course is approved for General Education credit!
Survey of Theatrical Design
Survey of design elements in theatrical production including the function of scenery, costuming, lighting, and sound in conveying directorial concepts, style, and dramatic meaning. Intended for students not concentrating on theatrical design, this course requires both theoretical and practical projects.
Fundamentals of Acting
Study of the methods of acting, with emphasis on basic acting techniques; role of character in relation to the play as a whole, the play's internal and emotional values, and their interpretation through voice and action.
LESLIE HANDELMAN (MFA) is back at the Meadow Brook Theatre, near Detroit, in The Haunting of Hill House. She will also play Marie-Louise in MBT's production of The Constant Wife by Somerset Maugham.
