intro
Illinois Theatre alumnus Dan Novy (MA ’95 Theatre, BFA ’93 Studio Acting) created a unique digital exhibition that is currently featured at the Sheldon Museum of Art on the University of Nebraska campus. Running from January 21–July 13, 2025, “Infinite Hopper: An Algorithmic Journey Through Light and Space” generates endless visual compositions reminiscent of Edward Hopper’s style, blending past and present through advanced technology.
Novy, deeply inspired by Hopper’s exploration of light and solitude, considers this project both a tribute and an experiment. He invites visitors to reflect on the capabilities of modern tools in reimagining classic aesthetics. The exhibit demonstrates how technology can reinterpret artistic traditions while maintaining their essence, offering an engaging way to experience familiar styles in a new form.
Dan Novy is an assistant professor of emerging media arts at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. Read more about Dan’s exhibition.
