An American Daughter (directed by Tom Mitchell) is a timely and politically inspiring study of how power moves through families and friends as well as across nations. The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade (directed by guest Laura Hackman) takes a deep look at the extremes of institutional power and the definitions of pleasure.
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (directed by J.W. Morrissette) should please fans of musical theatre, slapstick humor, and togas. Hit the Wall (directed by Robert Anderson) restages the Stonewall Riots as a demonstration of how power suppresses what it considers nonnormative pleasure. Nonnormative thought and action are explored in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (directed by Latrelle Bright), as a neuro-atypical young man tries to solve the mysteries of a dog’s death and his parents’ estrangement.
Finally, Barbara Pitts McAdams, a founding member of Tectonic Theatre, premieres Because I Am Your Queen in collaboration with our students. We hope you can join us for any or all of these exciting performances.
