Sigrid Sutter is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Voice and Speech. Professor Sutter’s work and study as an actor have taken her abroad and across the United States. She originated the role of Melissa in the workshop of The Drunken City by Adam Bock at TheatreWorks. Of her Catherine in Proof, The Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote, “Sigrid Sutter is engrossing as Catherine…She grounds her character, and the play, in ragged emotion.” The Chicago Tribune wrote, “Sutter [has] the chops,” in its review of her performance as Silvia in The Two Gentlemen of Verona. In Chicago, she’s worked with A Red Orchid Theatre, Steep Theatre, Jackalope Theatre, Northlight Theatre, and Back Room Shakespeare Project, and many others. Her film credits include Colma: The Musical and Strange Culture; her television credits include Chicago Justice and Ellen. Sigrid has provided narration for That 70’s Show, Backyardigans, and Microsoft. Her voiceover commercial clients include Kerrygold and Kings Island. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA. Sigrid has taught courses and workshops in acting, Shakespeare, voice, and speech at The Guthrie Theater, The Theatre School at DePaul University, The Conservatory at Webster University, The University of Chicago, Washington University, Gustavus Adolphus College, and other top institutions. Her voice and dialect coaching credits include a dozen productions for The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Sigrid is a certified teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework® and Pilates.
