BA Degree:
If you are applying to transfer into the BA in Immersive & Interactive Theatre, you just need to apply directly to the University. No audition or portfolio review is required for the BA degree.

All of our BFA degrees require that students are both academically eligible and the completion of an audition or interview/portfolio review. We offer several different options for transfers to complete the interview/portfolio review process - please select one of the options below:

BFA Acting Audition Requirements:
Please bring a headshot/photograph and resume listing your theatrical experience and educational background. Special skills, hobbies, employment history, awards and other relevant information can also be included.
We ask that you present two contrasting monologues that best represent your experience and abilities as an actor. Each monologue should be no more than 60 seconds in length. The monologues should be selected from different plays and each should be a speech of one character only, not several different characters speaking to each other. Choose characters similar to your own age and experience. If you wish to sing, you may also present a song no more than one minute in length. For this song, you should bring a recorded accompaniment and the means to play it. Please be prepared to have your monologues coached and explored.

BFA Design, Tech, Management Interview/Portfolio Review Requirements:
If you are doing your interview in person, please bring a portfolio with you. If you are doing your interview virtually, you will need to submit your portfolio materials via the Acceptd link above no later than ONE WEEK prior to your interview date.
The portfolio should show examples of the work you have done. Depending on your intended major, the portfolio can show a range of interests and might include:
Design/Tech Applicants: Sketches, drawings or drafting; production photos; photos of scenery, costumes or props you have built or helped prepare; audio recording, sound files, speaker plots; publicity materials, etc. Your portfolio could also include art projects or other creative activities.
Stage Management Applicants: examples of several pages of a prompt script showing cues and/or blocking, stage management paperwork, schedules, forms, reports, etc. In addition any sketches, drawings or drafting, production photos, photos of scenery/costumes/props you have built or helped prepare, publicity materials, art projects, etc. would be welcome. Your portfolio could also include non-theatre examples of organization or communication.
The portfolio should also include a resume listing your theatrical experience and educational background. Special skills, hobbies, employment history, awards and other relevant information can also be included.
The faculty recognize that many students have not been able to document extensively their experience and encourage students with a strong interest in design, technology or management to submit the material they have available. Passion, commitment, intelligence and imagination can be as important as extensive experience!
BFA Theatre Studies (Playwriting, Directing, Dramaturgy) Interview/Portfolio Review Requirements:

Statement of Purpose about what you would like to do in the Theatre Studies BFA and why you are interested in our program
Short Creative Piece such as a stage script, film script, poetry, director's notebook, review, etc.
Research paper or Essay which may be on any topic.
