Robin McFarquhar Retires
He was granted emeritus status on retirement. McFarquhar distinguished himself as a teacher and mentor. He received the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 1999 as well as many other teaching awards and nominations. Robin maintains a huge alumni network of grateful students. He is also an extremely accomplished fight director, with one Helen Hayes Award nomination and two Jeff Award nominations. He has worked on Broadway, with many regional theatre companies, and at some of the most renowned Shakespeare festivals. For the Department of Theatre, he served as fight or movement director of 70 productions, most recently Twelfth Night. This spring, several of his former students initiated Robin’s Hood, an award of an engraved sword and scholarship to a stage combat workshop or other professional development opportunity for the graduating MFA or BFA actor who best exemplifies Robin’s grace, power, and tenacity on and off stage.
