Audition Dates
The BFA in Acting requires that students are both academically eligible and the completion of an audition. We offer several different options for completing the audition process - please select one of the options below:
On-Campus Auditions and Interviews/Portfolio Reviews:
Come to campus, tour our facilities, meet with faculty and current BFA Acting students! In addition to your audition, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a workshop taught by Acting faculty.
Choose from one of the dates below to do your audition at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on the U of I campus! There is no fee to audition on campus.

Chicago Unified Auditions and Interviews/Portfolio Reviews:
Join us at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago for Unifieds! This option requires a $30 fee and registration through Acceptd at the link below.

Illinois High School Theatrefest
If your high school is planning to attend IHSTF this year, you may choose to do your audition during Theatrefest. If you are interested in this option, please let us know through the link below. PLEASE NOTE: the link below is only so we know to look for you, if you intend to audition at Theatrefest you MUST ALSO register through Theatrefest: https://www.illinoistheatre.org/ihstf

Audition Requirements:
Please bring a headshot/photograph and resume listing your theatrical experience and educational background. Special skills, hobbies, employment history, awards and other relevant information can also be included.
We ask that you present two contrasting monologues that best represent your experience and abilities as an actor. Each monologue should be no more than 60 seconds in length. The monologues should be selected from different plays and each should be a speech of one character only, not several different characters speaking to each other. Choose characters similar to your own age and experience. If you wish to sing, you may also present a song no more than one minute in length. For this song, you should bring a recorded accompaniment and the means to play it. Please be prepared to have your monologues coached and explored.
